KIYAKAYA Exhibition

Welcome to fashion for the digital age. Presented as part of Urban Couture 2019 for City of Joondalup, KIYAKAYA Exhibition transformed the location into an interactive open studio installation with fashion Makerspace and individually curated art-infused retail spaces. It highlights how advances in digital technology are radically transforming the way custom made clothes are designed, made and sold.

KIYAKAYA showcased portable 3D body scanning that takes less than 60 seconds to measure for custom fit that produces less waste in clothing production and retail phases.

It creates bespoke fashion, where we only have your perfect size and that means the garments are made to order and don’t hang on a rack, only to be heavily discounted, or thrown into landfill.

Design your personal capsule wardrobe! As part of KIYAKAYA Exhibition participants work with our design practitioners in interactive Fashion Makerspace Workshops to introduce the process for creating personal capsule collection.

In Part One they learn to experiment and explore design strategies for creating a collection, from generating ideas to making collages and your own 2D sketches from scratch. In Part Two they develop the designs digitally using application of 3D fashion technology. Turn those flat sketches into realistic 3D clothing. You will be able to create, visualise and instantly make changes to the garment designs.
